LOS ANGELES - Carrie Fisher has become addicted to prescriptiondrugs and has voluntarily checked into a detoxification program, herspokeswoman said.Fisher, who is perhaps best known for her role as Princess Leia inthe "Star Wars" trilogy, realized she had a problem shortly afterundergoing dental surgery, publicist Carol Stone said Monday."The combination of the prescribed medication required for manicdepression and the pain medication prescribed to her recently fromgetting dental implants caused her to recognize the problem earlyon," Stone said.Manic depression, also known as bipolar disorder, is a mentalillness marked by wide mood swings.Fisher has been in drug rehabilitation before.
