FED:Fewer deaths despite more trucks on roads

CANBERRA, Feb 3 AAP - Truck-linked deaths have dropped in the past five years despite
more heavy vehicles on Australian roads.

A new report shows the number of fatal crashes involving trucks and buses has fallen,
federal parliamentary secretary Catherine King said.

A quarterly bulletin of the Bureau of Industry, Transport and Regional Economics, Fatal
Heavy Vehicle Crashes Australia, April-June 2010 showed the risk of death per vehicle
or trip had decreased in the past five years.
